MY APPRENTISHIP DAYS

Donny's parents place in Toukley, Central Coast NSW. For the past six weeks I have been Donny's apprentice. I have come home with a great tan, big muscles and of course a new bank of construction knowledge.

My three Windows! These are the three Windows I put in all by myself~ No they don't have glass in them yet, or can you see the actual window as the plastic is covering them.. but I am proud as punch!
Donny's Web!! I always knew he was very athletic, but I never knew he was such a spider. He spent about two weeks straight climbing in and around the trusses whilst I cut and passed up batterns.

Good ol' Paslode. Scary at first, and don't approach without ear muffs. I got to use paslode on my second day on the job.. not as light as it looks folks. Although by the end of my building days I was able to use with one hand whilst holding timber in place. Yes I am BUFF!!

The place is rather large. Two decent sized spare rooms, one massive master bedroom with extra large ensuit and walk in robe, spa and sauna room.... not to mention the 5 metre long kitchen pantry!

'Never get too comfortable with the Drop saw' were Donny's first words of wisdom. 'Always be scared of it!' Although I must admit, I was a great cutter - parallel & horizontal angles, batterns, studs , noggins, you name it. We had a mutual understanding!

The days were usually hot and humid, so the working conditions were extreme. I would not have lasted each day without the daily visit from Donny's Pa.. with the delivery of Nanny's cold drinks! Thanks Nanny and Pa.

Christmas Pressie

For Christmas, Rene'e sent me two surfing lessons. This is where the career began, at Terrigal (about 30 min south of Toukley). My board was 9 ft long.. next time I get to use the 7fter!
Terrigal is very pretty, but extrememly busy and touristy.

AHH .... THE BEACH!

Soldiers Beach

Almost every night there was a beaut sunset over the beach. Soldiers was a 2 minute walk from the camp site, and also the best surf beach. Donny had a few early morning surf's, where as I just went during the day when the waves weren't so BIG! Surfing is fun but I am still only a beginner, give me little waves anyday.

The Entrance is where we went fishing... also where all the tourists go! It is very beautiful, and we happened to be there for a great sunset.
The chanel is not very deep, and you can see the big fish swiming by as you stand at the edge. Donny caught a Flouder on his line which was surprising as normally

DONNY'S NEW HOBBY

Donny brought a few toys whilst we were up north. Miss America being the faster and more dangerous, Freedom Flyer is much easier to fly and looks so gracious. These pictures were taken before and after the first take off and landing (in that order) since Donny was 12 yrs...

A rather close landing. No, your eyes are not playing tricks, managed to park miss america next to the only dog shit on the entire oval.
There have been many mornings spent at the Toukley oval flying, and not to mention fixing, and most afternoons include a trip to Erina to pick up spare wings and new propellers.
